The Historical Antarctic Sealing Industry Conference 2016

A conference on the history and legacies of the Antarctic sealing industry is to be held at the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge on the 19th and 20th of September 2016. This will be the first gathering of experts from around the globe in this field and will provide a forum for an exchange of research and opinions. It is hoped the archaeologists, anthropologists, site and artefact conservators and managers; Antarctic, social and economic historians and others will be involved. Proceedings of the conference will be published, in-house, in physical and electronic formats. Following the conference, a one day trip is planned to Ironbridge Gorge to see industrial sites associated with sealing.

Registration is now open. The Conference webpage is http://www.spri.cam.ac.uk/events/thasic/.  You can be assured of a warm welcome at the Scott Polar Research Institute and a fascinating time in Cambridge and beyond.
